Polish tennis sensation Iga Swiatek has been one of the brightest stars on the WTA Tour. A Wimbledon junior champion in 2018, Swiatek turned Pro in 2016. Despite a shaky start, she quickly picked up pace reaching her maiden WTA final at the 2019 Ladies Open in Lugano. While she was unfortunate to lose out on the title, it certainly did boost her confidence.

Swiatek’s maiden title came in the form of the 2020 French Open. She became one of the youngest champions at the tournament. Swiatek also won Poland its maiden Grand Slam singles title while becoming the lowest-ranked player to win the French Open since rankings started. She did not drop a single set during the fortnight in Paris and dropped second lowest games in the history of French Open champions only behind Steffi Graf.

Swiatek would go on to win the 2022 French Open as well, her second Major title. She added the 2022 US Open title as well to her trophy cabinet later that season. Following Ash Barty‘s sudden retirement, Swiatek became the World No. 1 on 4th April and held it till the end of the season. During the season, she also won 37 consecutive matches, the longest winning streak in the 21st century and one of the longest ever in history.
