Tennis Tracker: Sinner, Świątek i Alcaraz wchodzą do gry drugiego dnia US Open
There are just a few more days for players to ensure they head into the US Open with form and fitness on their side, and a number of big names are still in with a shot of heading to New York with a title in the bag, while all of them will today learn their draws for the final Grand Slam of the year.
22:02 CET – Over to Winston-Salem, where 10th seed Lorenzo Sonego (29) is through to the semi-finals, after downing Pavel Kotov (25) 6-3, 7-5.
Meanwhile, in Cleveland, top seed Beatriz Haddad Maia (28) is also through to the final four with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Clara Burel (23).
19:25 CET – In the feel-good story of the day, Diego Schwartzman (32) has secured a spot in the final Grand Slam of his career, winning 6-4, 6-4 in his qualifying final against Vilius Gaubas (19).
18:10 CET – The US Open draw has just been made, and perhaps the standout clash of the opening round is the one between world number 10 Jelena Ostapenko (27) and former champion Naomi Osaka (26).
In the men’s draw, Novak Djokovic (37) will be delighted at the fact that he’s managed to avoid being on the same side as Carlos Alcaraz (21), who has instead been placed in Jannik Sinner’s (23) half as was the case at Wimbledon.
