RETALIATION: Kim Kardashian Has Three Words for the World After Taylor Swift Diss Track.
Taylor Swift seemed to revive her long-running feud with Kim Kardashian in a track from her new Tortured Poets Department album titled âthanK you aIMee,â and everyone invested in the drama (read: the entire internet), has been waiting to see if Kim K had a clapback for the pop star.
But based on Kardashianâs first public appearance since Tortured Poets dropped, the official Kardashian Kamp position seems to be: Unbothered. Which, honestly, is a little anticlimactic.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live on April 22, Kardashian did not take the opportunity to address the apparent diss track. Instead, she told the late-night host, âLife is good.â In fairness, Kimmel didnât ask Kardashian about the feud directly, so maybe she just didnât have a chance to address the beef.
Once you note that the capitalization in âthanK you aIMeeâ spells K-I-M, itâs hard to ignore the pointed meaning in the lyrics, which describe a âa bronze, spray-tanned statue of you.â Swift sings in the chorus, âAll that time you were throwinâ punches, I was buildinâ somethinâ/ And I canât forgive the way you made me feel / Screamed, âFuck you, Aimeeâ to the night sky as the blood was gushinâ.â
In the second verse she sings, âAnd it wasnât a fair fight / Or a clean kill each time that Aimee stompĐ”d across my grave / And then she wrotĐ” headlines / In the local paper, laughing at each baby step Iâd take.â
Those familiar with the drama will know that it all began in 2016, when Kardashian dropped a recording of Swift seeming to approve the lyrics to her then-husband Kanye Westâs song âFamous,â which included the line, âI feel like me and Taylor might still have sex,â to Snapchat.
Later, a full version of the call was released, which seemed to exonerate Swift and show that Kardashian had dishonestly edited the audio. Swift says Kardashian never apologized.
This time, however, Kim Kardashian doesnât seem interested in continuing the back-and-forth.
