Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian, and Kanye West have spent years locked in a feud with little hope for reconciliation in sight. West and Swift famously crossed paths when he interrupted her VMA acceptance speech, but they were able to move forward on friendly terms. In 2016, however, the feud sparked anew when West referred to Swift as a “b****” in his song “Famous.” Kardashian released a phone recording of Swift and West discussing the song, thus painting Swift as a liar. Swift said she worried her career would be over as a result.

When Kardashian released a recording of a phone conversation between West and Swift, the singer faced widespread backlash. She began to view the moment as “career death.”

“Make no mistake — my career was taken away from me,” Swift told Time in 2023.

Kardashian insisted Swift knew about the song all along and had given West her approval.

“She totally approved that,” she told GQ, adding, “She totally knew that that was coming out. She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn’t. I swear, my husband gets so much s*** for things [when] he really was doing proper protocol and even called to get it approved. What rapper would call a girl that he was rapping a line about to get approval?”

Swift’s team didn’t deny the phone call had happened, but said she hadn’t signed off on the line, “I made that b**** famous.” She believed Kardashian and West were trying to take her career away from her by sharing the phone call.

“You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar,” she said. “That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before.

In 2020, the full phone call leaked and appeared to vindicate Swift. Kardashian jumped to her husband’s defense.

“[Taylor Swift] has chosen to reignite an old exchange — that at this point in time feels very self-serving given the suffering millions of real victims are facing right now,” Kardashian wrote on Twitter, per Us Weekly. “I didn’t feel the need to comment a few days ago, and I’m actually really embarrassed and mortified to be doing it right now, but because she continues to speak on it, I feel I’m left without a choice but to respond because she is actually lying.”

She insisted that Swift was the one lying.

“Kanye has documented the making of all of his albums of his personal archive, however has never released any of it for public consumption & the call between the two of them would have remained private or would have gone in the trash had she not lied & forced me to defend him.”

She wants the feud to end
Four years later, Kardashian is eager to see the feud end. Swift released “thanK you aIMee” on her latest album, which seemingly is about Kardashian.

“She’s over it and thinks Taylor should move on,” a source told People, adding, “[Kardashian] doesn’t get why [Swift] keeps harping on it. It’s been literally years.”

At this point, though, the bad blood between the three doesn’t seem likely to go anywhere soon.
