JUST IN Karoline Leavitt provides five-word update on Trump’s health ahead of medical report release…more below
Karoline Leavitt issued a five-word statement on President Donald Trump’s health as she said the president is “undergoing quite a few tests” as well as imaging during his yearly physical on Friday.
“Is he undergoing any general anesthesia, and can you outline any of the other tests that he’s doing today?” a reporter asked during a Friday press briefing at the White House.
“He is not — he is undergoing quite a few tests and imaging,” the White House press secretary responded. “Again, it’s a yearly physical, so there’s quite a lot that goes into it to make sure that the president is accomplishing all of his goals, and we will provide a readout of that as soon as we can.”
“And, will you be committed to releasing all of the results, as many of the results, as possible?” the reporter followed up. “Of course,” Leavitt responded. “The president’s physician will do that — I spoke with him this morning.”
“Will you guys also be releasing the president’s fitness plan? He actually looks healthier than ever before — healthier than he did eight years ago — and I’m sure everybody in this room could agree. Is he working out with Bobby Kennedy? And is he eating less McDonald’s?”
“I can confirm that the president is in very good shape, as you see on a near-daily basis here,” Leavitt answered, though she dodged the question about whether he works out with RFK Jr. She then ended the press conference.
It’s been a busy week for Trump, who just days ago announced 145% “reciprocal” tariffs against China — the result of a “lack of respect” he said the country has shown for the world’s markets.
He slammed China in a lengthy Truth Social post on Wednesday as he announced a 90-day pause on all other tariffs against other countries — China being the exception. The “pause” will see all of those countries lowered to a 10% tariff rate for 90 days or longer, if they can reach a deal with the U.S.
China, however, was hit with increased 125% tariffs, which rose to 145% just a day later to account for the 20% tariff he had already slapped on the country for its alleged role in the production and sale of fentanyl to the U.S.
“Based on the lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets, I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125%, effective immediately,” Trump wrote in the lengthy post. “At some point, hopefully in the near future, China will realize that the days of ripping off the U.S.A., and other Countries, is no longer sustainable or acceptable.”
“Conversely, and based on the fact that more than 75 Countries have called Representatives of the United States, including the Departments of Commerce, Treasury, and the USTR, to negotiate a solution to the subjects being discussed relative to Trade, Trade Barriers, Tariffs, Currency Manipulation, and Non Monetary Tariffs, and that these Countries have not, at my strong suggestion, retaliated in any way, shape, or form against the United States, I have authorized a 90 day PAUSE, and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period, of 10%, also effective immediately,” he continued. “Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
The initial round of tariffs, which were slapped against nearly every country in the world, saw the stock market tank, with many stocks reaching their lowest levels in years as trade decreased to nearly a standstill.
But, with the announcement of the 90-day reprieve, the stock market soared, with indexes like the Nasdaq reaching their highest single-day increases in years. The index was up by over 12%.
