Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly weren’t given advanced notice of Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis and found out about her condition at the same time as the general public (aka at 2:00 pm ET on Friday, March 22).

According to the Sunday Times, Kate’s cancer diagnosis “was not shared in advance with Harry and Meghan.” The outlet also confirmed that “Harry found out about Kate’s diagnosis from television.”

Shortly after the Princess of Wales’s message announcing her condition was released, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex publicly put out a statement that read, “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.” Both People and Entertainment Tonight then reported that Meghan and Harry had privately reached out to Kate.

A Kensington Palace spokesman, meanwhile, said, “We do not comment on private conversations.”

The Princess of Wales revealed the news of her diagnosis via a video posted on social media and said in part, “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

She added, “I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body, and spirits.”

Wishing Kate a speedy recovery during this difficult time.
